why?
Two products share this name. Classic padded mailers are stuffed with macerated newsprint, which composts as readily as any shredded paper once the kraft shell is torn up. Bubble mailers line the same shell with polyethylene bubble wrap — and poly mailers skip paper entirely — so the envelope has to be opened and inspected before any verdict applies.

watch out for
- Shipping labels are thermal paper on plastic-backed adhesive — peel and trash them, taking a layer of envelope along if needed.
