Self contained units
Sun-Mar's self-contained composting toilets are water free and quick & easy to install one-piece systems. Available in standard non-electric as well as electric for rapid liquid evaporation and decomposition. These units are the most popular model and ideally suited for seasonal use. Installation requires a 2" vent stack for electric and 4" for non-electric. An inlline vent fan is included with the electric models that can be powered by 110v AC and/or 12v or 24v DC. The DC fan can also be added to the non-electric units as an optional, add-on item.
Central units (wet or dry)
In all Sun-Mar central units, the composting chamber is located in a crawl space or basement at a level lower than the toilet.
For those who want a traditional type of toilet, low flush systems are designed for use with a Sealand 1 pint flush toilet. The Sealand in the bathroom is connected by a standard 3" plumbing pipe to the composting unit below the toilet, normally within 15-20 feet.
Sun-Mar waterfree systems use the Dry Toilet (as pictured, right), connected to the composting unit by means of a 10" diameter pipe. Odor free operation is maintained by a fan which pulls air down through the toilet seat and up the vent stack. Sun-Mar waterfree toilet systems are to be used where the toilet can be placed directly over the composting chamber.
